The 88th edition of the Thessaloniki International Fair, one of Greece’s most significant international events, took place from 7 to 11 September 2024. With Germany as the honored country, the fair served as the backdrop for a significant advancement in ARTEMIS's academic collaboration.
On September 8, 2024, the University of Ioannina (UoI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its ARTEMIS alliance partner, OTH Regensburg, University of Applied Sciences. The goal of the MOU is to foster collaboration in teaching and research by connecting colleagues, while also encouraging student exchanges and promoting staff mobility. The new European University ARTEMIS, a core element of this partnership, was also highlighted in the University of Ioannina’s official speech at the fair, entitled “University of Ioannina: a 60-year continuous presence in the European Higher Education Area”. This agreement reaffirms the strong commitment of both institutions to the continued success of the ARTEMIS alliance, and further strengthens ties between the two universities.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between universities is a formal, but non-binding agreement that outlines the terms of collaboration between two or more academic institutions. It typically covers areas such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, shared resources, and curriculum development. MOUs are often the first step in establishing a formal partnership, allowing universities to align on shared goals before entering into more binding agreements.
