UniPG University of Perugia
The Università degli Studi di Perugia (UniPG) is located in the heart of Italy, in the region of Umbria. Founded in 1308 with a rich historical tradition, the university offers today a wide range of high-quality study programs in various fields, ranging from humanities and social sciences to natural and technical sciences.
The Università degli Studi di Perugia, founded in 1308, stands as one of the oldest universities in Europe. The university comprises 16 faculties, over 20 doctoral schools, and 54 research laboratories, providing a wide array of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs spanning various disciplines. These encompass arts and humanities, sciences, engineering, social sciences, law, medicine, and agriculture. With its diverse curriculum, the university caters to the academic interests and career aspirations of its students.
Local environment
The Università degli Studi di Perugia is located in the university town of Perugia, capital of the region of Umbria often referred to as “the Green Heart of Italy”. The campus of the University of Perugia is spread throughout the city, with historic buildings blending seamlessly with modern facilities. Umbria is bordered by three other regions (Marche, Lazio, and Tuscany) and does not have a maritime coastline. The Trasimeno Lake is its main body of water and the Tiber, the third-longest river in Italy, flows from northwest to southeast across the countryside. The Appennine ridge of the Umbria region includes natural parks with hiking trails and a rich flora and fauna. Perugia, rich in art and culture, covering two hilltops, is a well-known cultural centre and annually hosts several social events among which the Umbria Jazz Festival, the International Journalism Festival and the Eurochocolate Festival.
Umbria stands out for the attention dedicated to environmental sustainability as it is the only region in Italy to make available to the student community a discount on transport, activated for three academic years, that makes the entire territory like a large university campus.
Inclusion Strategy
The University of Perugia represents an inclusive community in which each individual must have access to the same opportunities, including those of international mobility and participation in cooperation projects. This is why the University strives to meet the needs of everyone, including and especially those who, compared to their peers, find themselves in conditions of difficulty or disadvantage that often represent an obstacle to accessing formal and non-formal education, transnational mobility and employment opportunities.
To support participants with special needs (physical, mental, sensory or other disabilities serious or chronic physical or psychiatric illnesses) the University has envisaged specific measures, such as the establishment of the figure of the Rector's Delegate for Services for Students with Disabilities and/or DSA, who represents the point of reference for all matters concerning policies, practices, culture for the inclusion of these subjects, and has the task of raising awareness of disability issues, as well as coordinating and monitoring the activities of the Student Support Service, supported by a special Commission and Departmental Referents. In addition, tutoring services are provided to implement the student's autonomy, to foster the process of inclusion in the University and in social contexts, to develop his or her active participation in the educational process, to monitor the learning context in order to identify customised interventions in agreement with the Departmental Contact Person.
