VIVES is an international university for applied sciences. We are open to the world: we work closely together with the export-oriented local and regional enterprises and organisations in the broadest sense. This includes businesses in the agro-industry, hospitals, training centres for primary and secondary schools, centres for social guidance and counselling.

With locations in five cities in West Flanders, at the heart of Europe, VIVES offers profession-oriented degree programmes at the bachelor level in six fields of study: Applied Engineering and Technology, Applied Social Studies, Biotechnology, Commercial Sciences, Business Management and Computer Sciences, Education and Health Care.

VIVES University of Applied Sciences engages in hands-on research. VIVES reaches out to companies and organisations that face modern day challenges. Offering a solution to said challenges, we improve our knowledge and adjust our insights in and on education. As the largest university of applied sciences in West Flanders, VIVES provides higher education and practice-oriented research. With our research we want to ensure that our education remains of high quality and in line with current professional practice. Through our research we also want to contribute to innovations and have a regional, national and international impact on social development.

The centres of expertise focuses on new technologies and human centered research. Automation & safety, eco-technology, climate control and energy, aviation, drones, vehicle networks, mobility, artificial intelligence, big data, logistics & transportation are just a few examples of the research at VIVES.
