ARTEMIS Pinnacle Summit and Non-Conference hosted in Perugia

On 29-30 June 2026, the University of Perugia and the University of Ioannina hosted the ARTEMIS Pinnacle Summit & Non-Conference, bringing together participants from across the alliance to explore the theme Open Borders and strengthen collaboration.

The opening day was attended by the Rector of the University of Perugia, Prof. Massimiliano Marianelli, confirming the University’s strong commitment to internationalisation, European cooperation and the development of transnational university networks. The event was also attended by Prof. Diana Salciarini, Rector’s Delegate for International Affairs, together with representatives from the partner universities.

The Pinnacle Summit featured institutional sessions, keynote lectures, policy discussions and research panels dedicated to the challenges of European academic cooperation. The programme also included the ARTEMIS Research Pathways Panel and discussions on the Alliance’s emerging research centres, fostering dialogue on shared research priorities and future collaboration.

The second day was dedicated to the Non-Conference “Spaces We Share, Spaces of Care”, an interactive collaborative format designed to strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue, teamwork and soft skills. Participants worked in six thematic tables across the three ARTEMIS research areas — Technology & Transport, Health & Environment, and Migration & Human Rights — developing ideas inspired by emblematic figures from the history and culture of Perugia and combining local heritage with European perspectives on regional transformation and cooperation.

The event represented an important opportunity to reinforce academic cooperation within the Alliance, encourage networking among researchers and institutions, and advance the development of the ARTEMIS Research Pathways.
