CALL FOR PAPERS | The ARTEMIS European University Alliance is pleased to announce the 1st ARTEMIS Dissemination Conference to be held at the Ovidius University of Constanta in Romania, from 12 to 13 November 2026.

The ARTEMIS European University Alliance is pleased to announce the 1st ARTEMIS Dissemination Conference to be held at the Ovidius University of Constanta in Romania, from 12 to 13 November 2026. The event aims to bring together academics and stakeholders (including policymakers and industry representatives) to explore the evolving role of European universities in fostering regional transformation and resilience in a rapidly changing world.

Positioned at the crossroads of empires and cultures, the region of Dobrogea offers a meaningful framework for discussing European values and cooperation, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability.

The conference will include plenary and parallel sessions, structured into panels, workshops, and roundtables. Stakeholders and early career scholars (especially doctoral and postdoctoral researchers) are encouraged to participate.

Submissions can be sent for any of the following types of contributions:

  1. Research dissemination (paper or poster presentations)
  2. Stakeholder engagement (case studies, policy contribution, project showcases, roundtables)

Original research contributions

The organisers invite proposals for paper or poster presentations addressing themes falling under the following tracks:

  • Regional Transformation, Mobility and Connectivity (e.g., multilevel governance and regional change; territorial cohesion, centre-periphery dynamics and regional disparities; cross-border connectivity)
  • Diversity, Inclusion and European Values (e.g., cultural heritage and identity construction, migration and integration, inclusive education systems, citizenship and democratic participation, social cohesion, and the negotiation of European values in diverse societies)
  • Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities (e.g., sustainability transition; resilience frameworks in coastal and regional systems; interactions between ecological, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability)
  • Digital Transformation, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (e.g., digital transformation of societies, institutions and knowledge systems; artificial intelligence and data-driven methods; ethical, legal and societal implications of emerging technologies; interdisciplinary)
  • Health, Society and Wellbeing (e.g., public health and regional inequalities, interdisciplinary healthcare approaches, community-oriented healthcare innovation, mental health and wellbeing)

Contributions may include theoretical, empirical, methodological, comparative, or interdisciplinary research from across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and applied fields. Early-career scholars (doctoral and/or postdoctoral researchers) are encouraged to apply.

Paper proposals should include:

  • Title of the presentation
  • Abstract (maximum 300 words, written in English, providing a brief statement of research goals, methodology and key findings/contributions)
  • 5-7 keywords
  • Author(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Contact details (e-mail address)
  • Scientific area/conference track
  • Participation option (in-person or online)
  • Doctoral or early career researcher status

In addition to the abovementioned details, poster presentations should also include an indication of whether the poster presents work in progress or completed research. Accepted poster presenters will receive further information regarding poster dimensions, formatting, and presentation requirements.

The deadline for the submission of paper or poster proposals is 15.09.2026. Notices of acceptance will be sent out by 01.10.2026.

Stakeholder contributions

The organisers also welcome stakeholder contributions highlighting practical experiences, collaborative initiatives, policy perspectives, regional partnerships, institutional strategies, and project outcomes related to the conference themes:

  • Regional Transformation, Mobility and Connectivity (e.g., multilevel governance and regional change; territorial cohesion, centre-periphery dynamics and regional disparities; cross-border connectivity)
  • Diversity, Inclusion, and European Values (e.g., multicultural dialogue; inclusion policies and practices; social cohesion and civic engagement)
  • Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities (e.g., sustainable regional development; green transition; coastal and maritime sustainability; climate challenges and resilience)
  • Digital Transformation, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (e.g., university-business collaboration; living labs and innovation ecosystems; entrepreneurship and regional innovation)
  • Health, Society and Wellbeing (e.g., public health and regional inequalities, interdisciplinary healthcare approaches, community-oriented healthcare innovation, mental health and wellbeing)

Submissions may take the form of case studies, policy contributions, project showcases, or roundtable proposals.
